As a Product Manager you are responsible for defining and prioritizing the backlog in the different domains - and driving the portfolio backlog delivery via a series of releases. Product Managers are thus the “content authority” for releases – and are empowered to make fast local decision about what gets built. You are responsible for several products in one of the different domains (Payroll, HR Core, e-HRM and Foundation) and for what gets implemented and adherence to plan (acceptance criteria, validation, release).

This function is based in Amersfoort (the Netherlands) and will include activities of internal staff based in Amersfoort (the Netherlands) and Madrid (Spain). The working language in our environment is English. You are part of a team that consists of your Product Manager peers. You report into the Manager Product Management.

Specific responsibilities that you assume include:

  • You Define the Roadmap through Refinements in cooperation with Portfolio Management, architects, Product development and other stakeholders (Business);
  • Working in close cooperation with Portfolio Management to support the creation of vision, objectives, budgets,  portfolio backlog (highest level of roadmap);
  • Defining, prioritizing and managing the program backlog: based on Roadmap, architectural inputs, customer wishes (enhancement requests), within boundaries set by Portfolio Management;
  • Managing dependencies between releases;
  • Defining feature acceptance criteria and release planning;
  • Serving as content authority for the release train (vision, what goes in what release);
  • Supporting organization in customer facing activities and leading for Solutions and Product Development in Customer Escalations;
  • Accountable for refinement of roadmap items to Epics/features in cooperation with Product Owners;
  • Sharing product knowledge in organization and, as the role is to extend customer facing, with user groups.


As people manager for several Product Owners you:

  • Attract, recruit and retain capable professionals;
  • Serve  as a coach, advisor and career counselor;
  • Evaluate performance and provide guidance and corrective actions;
  • Listen and support teams in problem identification and decision making, address issues that teams cannot unblock by themselves;


We are looking for a team player with great initiative and a get-it-done attitude. You must be able to handle a fast paced work environment while juggling several different tasks at the same time. Excellent organizational, communications, and multi-tasking skills are musts. You understand the need of developers and the difference between REST and SOAP.  You arrange proper team ownership together with other Product Managers.

You succeed in this role, relying upon demonstrated important experience as product manager or similar. Some international travel is no issue for you. Skills we look for include (ideally you possess these - or you have a demonstrated ability to acquire them fast, and excel in using/applying them):

  • 3+ years relevant experience in product management, product ownership or business analysis;
  • 3+ years’ experience in IT projects;
  • Good knowledge of in software development processes, preferably in web based solutions;
  • Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies preferably also with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe);
  • Subject matter expert in one or more HR or Payroll domains (Talent, e-HRM, absence, analytics, workforce planning etc.);
  • Strong managerial / leadership skills preferably in an international context;
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal (Dutch & English);
  • Results oriented.

If you combine this expertise with a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree, then this will be a plus that will be fully recognized.
