Raet facilitates over 10.000 corporate clients and has a presence in 14 countries, including near and far shore development hubs. As you (hopefully) realize, a payroll engine is a payroll engine is a payroll engine. No matter the complexity of the underlying processes and technologies, and no matter the speed with which new rules and regulations need to be incorporated, once a payroll engine is up and running, it rarely requires a conceptual overhaul. Let’s be honest: our payroll engine, which performs marvellously, doesn’t differ significantly from our competitor’s. To stay ahead of the competition, we instead invest in value added services. And that’s where you come in, because as Lead Architect Payroll, you will not only phase out pesky legacy elements of the payroll engine, but also conceptualize the domain architecture that allows us to introduce customer value.

The nitty gritty

As Lead Architect Payroll you’ll conceptualize the domain architecture for our payroll platform. E.g. by designing high level concepts and translating those into architectural models that are infinitely scalable. You’ll promote your view at all levels, fostering commitment along the way. Counterparts include the ‘usual suspects’, such as our chief architect, solution architects, product managers and software architects. But we also expect you to enlighten internal product marketeers and clients as to the how and why of architectural choices.

You’ll keep close tabs on domain developments, such as evolving regulations and shifting customer demands – to facilitate the strategic decision-making process. You’ll identify (and mitigate!) architectural risks, both pertaining to the introduction of new services and risks embedded in deeper architectural levels. Although we fully expect you to drive innovations, it’s imperative you set the right pace: we want to keep everybody on board and we must comply with strict rules and regulations, for example when it comes to privacy. Not easy when clients demand more opportunities to share data! You’ll inspire, guide and support software architects, application specialists, API developers and all other internal stakeholders. You’ll report directly to our chief architect and are a valued member of the Raet architectural board.

  • Bring 10+ years of relevant experience to the table, including experience in payroll
  • Are thoroughly familiar with service oriented and cloud architecture principles
  • Are into domain, behavior and event driven development
  • Subscribe to the notion that scalability and resilience should go hand in hand
  • Aren’t afraid to try, fail, and try again; failed experiments provide the best insights!
  • Are fine with travelling to countries where customers use our payroll solutions
